Matt Brown the singer and guitar player from N.C. former member both of Ashley Stove and the Comas moved out west to go solo with My Code Name is Blue. He released one record under this moniker from San Francisco on Pidgeon English records before moving to Portland where he went on to form both Montauk Ghost and Bladen County Records originally with drummer co/label owner Joe Bowden.

For the Montauk Ghost record he recruited Troy Howard, bass player from St. Louis, Alex Matson from Colorado on keyboards formerly of the band The Samples, and a mutual friend of Matt’s from their home in N.C. Kurt Hagardorn. former front man of the indie band Gumption.
